Corona Energy Bills and Meter Readings
How to submit meter readings, use myCorona, understand estimated bills and check electricity, gas and half-hourly charges.
Information checked: 20 October 2026.
If your Corona Energy bill is estimated, your meter reading has been rejected or the amount you're being charged doesn't look right, start by checking the readings and rates used on the invoice.
Corona asks customers to submit electricity readings by the 1st of each month and gas readings by the 3rd. Readings arriving after those deadlines may not be used for that month's bill.
You can access invoices and consumption records through myCorona, Corona's online account service.
This guide explains how to submit readings, understand unexpected charges and raise a billing query.
How do I submit an electricity meter reading to Corona Energy?
Corona accepts electricity readings through myCorona.
Official submission page: coronaenergy.co.uk/submit-meter-reading
myCorona: mycorona.coronaenergy.co.uk
Before submitting, check:
- The 13-digit MPAN on your bill or contract.
- The meter serial number.
- The correct register if your meter has more than one.
- The reading displayed on your meter.
- The date the reading was taken.
Corona's submission instructions say readings should contain whole numbers, without decimal places or red digits.
Its online submission process requires a reading date within the previous 21 days. Future dates are not accepted.
If the submission system rejects your reading, check that you've chosen the correct meter and register.
If you still can't submit it, contact Corona on 0800 804 8589 and ask for help recording the reading.
How do I submit a gas meter reading to Corona Energy?
You can submit gas readings through Corona's website.
coronaenergy.co.uk/submit-meter-reading
Corona normally asks for the Meter Point Reference Number, often called the MPRN or MPR.
If you cannot find that number, its online process also provides an option to identify the supply using the meter serial number.
Take the reading from your meter and enter the whole-number index, leaving out decimal places and red digits.
Corona also requires the reading date to fall within the previous 21 days.
If you manage several supplies, Corona's submission service supports multiple readings, including spreadsheet uploads for larger meter portfolios.
Keep a record of what you submitted and when.
When should I send Corona Energy meter readings?
Corona asks customers to provide:
Electricity readings
No later than the 1st of each month.
Gas readings
No later than the 3rd of each month.
Readings submitted after those dates may not be included in that billing cycle.
If your meter sends usable automatic readings, regular manual submissions may not be necessary.
However, check your invoices to make sure actual consumption data is being used.
How do I log in to myCorona?
myCorona is Corona Energy's online account service, available 24 hours a day.
Log in at: mycorona.coronaenergy.co.uk
Corona says customers can use the service to:
- View invoices and payment history.
- Check consumption and billing records.
- View meter details and readings.
- Raise and track account queries.
- View half-hourly data where available.
If you need help accessing your account, contact Corona Customer Services.
Do not rely solely on an account dashboard if you believe a bill is incorrect. Download the relevant invoices and compare the underlying figures.
Why is my Corona Energy bill estimated?
An estimated bill may be issued when Corona hasn't received an actual, usable reading in time for billing.
A reading submitted after the monthly deadline may not be included until a later billing cycle.
If the estimate is higher than your actual usage, a subsequent validated reading may result in an account adjustment.
If previous estimates were too low, a later actual reading can produce a larger catch-up bill.
To investigate:
- Check whether the invoice identifies estimated or actual consumption.
- Find the meter readings and dates used.
- Compare them with your own dated readings.
- Submit an accurate current reading.
- Ask Corona whether the invoice needs correcting.
A current reading may not establish the precise consumption for every previous billing period. Corona may need to validate the relevant data before making an adjustment.
Why have I received a large catch-up bill from Corona Energy?
A catch-up bill can arise when previous estimated usage was lower than the amount subsequently recorded.
Other possible reasons include an incorrect opening reading, delayed billing, changes in consumption or additional contractual charges.
Ask Corona for an itemised breakdown showing the readings, periods and rates used.
Do not assume a large adjustment is automatically correct or incorrect without checking the evidence.
How do I read a Corona Energy gas meter with a corrector?
Some commercial gas meters have a separate volume corrector.
Corona's guidance says customers with a corrector should submit the corrected total reading displayed by that device.
This matters because the corrected and uncorrected meter volumes can differ.
If you are unsure which display is required, contact Corona before submitting the reading.
For an ordinary digital gas meter, Corona generally asks for the whole-number reading, excluding decimal or red digits.
For a dial meter, follow its published instructions or ask for help if the pointer positions are unclear.

Why am I receiving estimated bills when I have a smart meter?
A smart meter can send consumption readings automatically, but an installed meter does not guarantee Corona has received usable data for every billing period.
Possible issues include communications problems, missing data or meter registration issues.
Check whether the latest invoice uses actual or estimated consumption.
If it is estimated, ask Corona whether it is receiving reliable automatic readings and whether you should provide manual readings temporarily.
Do not assume a meter replacement is required before the problem has been investigated.
What is the difference between a smart meter and an AMR meter?
A smart meter can transmit consumption information automatically and help reduce the need for manual readings.
Automatic Meter Reading equipment, often called AMR, is also used for commercial energy supplies.
Corona explains that AMR can collect half-hourly consumption data and reduce the need for monthly manual submissions.
For a larger business, access to detailed interval data can help investigate usage patterns and billing differences.
The type of meter and data available will depend on the installation and account arrangements.

Why doesn't my half-hourly electricity bill match the meter display?
Some electricity supplies are billed using interval consumption data rather than simply showing one opening and closing meter reading.
The bill may reflect the sum of the usage recorded throughout the billing period.
If the consumption looks wrong, ask Corona for the half-hourly data for the relevant dates and compare it with the billed total.
Check for missing readings, substituted data or a mismatch in billing dates.
The absence of a traditional opening and closing reading does not automatically mean the invoice is wrong.
Why is my Corona Energy bill higher than my unit rate suggests?
A business energy invoice can contain more than the unit rate charged per kilowatt-hour.
Depending on the agreement, charges may include:
- Electricity or gas consumption.
- Daily standing charges.
- Network charges.
- Metering charges.
- Capacity charges where applicable.
- Climate Change Levy.
- VAT.
- Previous balances or account adjustments.
Corona's own invoice cost breakdown explains network, metering, government policy and supplier operating costs.
Some costs may be included in the agreed price, while others may be billed separately under the contract.
If you see DUoS, TNUoS or a capacity charge you don't recognise, ask Corona for its calculation and the applicable contract terms.

When should I receive my first Corona Energy bill?
Corona says customers should normally expect their first invoice around eight weeks after switching supply.
That is its published expectation, not a guarantee of the same billing date for every account.
Corona also says it deducts invoice amounts by Direct Debit monthly where that payment method has been arranged, with the amount and due date shown on the invoice.
If you have switched but haven't received a bill, check myCorona and contact the supplier.
Don't assume the absence of a bill means no charges are building up.
How do I challenge an incorrect Corona Energy bill?
Start by identifying the specific issue rather than simply saying the bill is too high.
Check the account reference, MPAN or MPRN, supply address, billing period, readings and contract rates.
Then:
- Download the disputed invoice.
- Find the exact charges you disagree with.
- Gather meter photographs, previous bills and your contract.
- Contact Corona through myCorona or Customer Services.
- Ask for a written explanation and any correction needed.
- Keep your query reference and all correspondence.
Corona Customer Services: 0800 804 8589.
Raising a billing query does not automatically suspend every payment obligation. Ask Corona to confirm how the disputed and undisputed amounts should be handled.
If the issue remains unresolved, use Corona's formal complaints procedure.
What happens to my final Corona Energy bill when I switch or move out?
Corona says a final invoice is sent to the billing address or email held on the account and can also be accessed through myCorona.
When switching suppliers, Corona says it uses the transfer reading provided through the incoming supplier's process.
If you're leaving the premises, make sure Corona has your forwarding contact details and the correct occupancy date.
Keep your closing meter readings and supporting documents in case the final invoice needs reviewing.
If the account involves a property handover, see our Corona Energy Change of Tenancy guide.
