Independent guidance on bills, meter readings, deemed rates, moving premises, contracts and complaints.

Independent guidance from The Best Energy Rates

If Corona Energy supplies your business electricity or gas, you may need help understanding a bill, submitting a reading, moving premises or checking what happens when your contract ends.

Corona Energy supplies commercial electricity and gas to UK businesses. It offers fixed and flexible contracts, an online account service and support for businesses with different types of energy supply.

This independent guide from The Best Energy Rates explains where to find help, what to check on your account and which questions to ask before agreeing to a new contract.

myCorona is Corona Energy's online account service. Customers can use it to view bills and payment history, check consumption, submit meter readings and raise or track account queries.

If you need registration details, Corona says you can contact:

Do not assume a missing invoice means you have not been charged for the energy used.

Official information

What happens if I move into premises supplied by Corona Energy?

If you take over business premises already supplied by Corona Energy, you should notify the supplier of the change. Corona asks for at least 30 days' notice for an incoming change of occupier and supporting evidence.

Accepted evidence can include a lease agreement, signed Deed of Surrender, solicitor's letter or appropriate Land Registry documentation.

You should also keep an opening meter reading and the date you became responsible for the premises.

Corona explains that a new occupier without an agreed contract may initially be charged on deemed rates.

Don't assume the previous occupier's agreement automatically transfers to your business.

Official guidance

What are Corona Energy's deemed rates?

Deemed rates can apply when a business moves into premises already supplied by Corona Energy without agreeing a new energy contract.

Corona publishes separate deemed rates for non-half-hourly electricity, half-hourly electricity and different annual gas consumption bands.

Its published rates effective from 1 September 2026 include:

Supply typeUnit rateStanding charge
Electricity (non-half-hourly)41.01p/kWh£3.14/day
Electricity (half-hourly)39.41p/kWh£11.74/day
Gas8.59p/kWhBy consumption band

These are published headline charges, not necessarily the complete amount payable. Corona says specified DUoS and TNUoS fixed charges are passed through separately for non-half-hourly electricity. Half-hourly supplies can also incur DUoS capacity charges and other network costs. The published figures exclude VAT and Climate Change Levy where applicable.

The rates can change. Always check the tariff applying to your particular supply and billing dates.

What happens when my Corona Energy contract ends?

Corona distinguishes between deemed rates and out-of-contract rates.

Deemed rates commonly apply when a new occupier takes over premises already supplied by Corona without agreeing a contract. Out-of-contract rates can apply when a previous Corona contract expires or is terminated and the supply continues without a new agreement or supplier transfer.

Corona publishes the applicable rate schedules, but your contractual position and any additional charges still need checking.

If your contract is approaching expiry, ask for your end date, renewal options and any notice requirements in writing.

Do not assume you are free to switch immediately just because your fixed prices have ended.

Official information

How do I submit meter readings to Corona Energy?

Corona accepts meter readings through its account services. Its published FAQs ask customers to submit:

  • Gas readings no later than the 3rd of the month.
  • Electricity readings no later than the 1st of the month.

Readings arriving later may not be used for that billing cycle, which can lead to an estimated bill.

Keep dated meter photographs and check that the correct readings have been recorded against the correct supply. Customers with automatic or smart meters should still check their bills if consumption appears incorrect.

Official guidance

Why is my Corona Energy bill higher than expected?

An unexpectedly high bill doesn't always mean the supplier has increased your contract's unit rate.

Possible explanations include estimated consumption, catch-up billing, changes in usage, out-of-contract rates, capacity charges, separately passed-through network costs or outstanding account balances.

Check the billing dates, MPAN or MPRN, readings, standing charges, unit rates and any additional charges.

If your account includes separate DUoS or TNUoS charges, ask Corona to explain how those charges were calculated and which contract provision applies.

If the figures are still unclear, request a written account breakdown rather than relying on a verbal estimate.
